JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: NASSP Membership Strategist
Department: Membership/Growth Strategy
Reports To: Director of Membership

Position Summary
The Membership Strategist is a key role in fostering the growth, retention, and engagement of NASSP’s school leader membership. Members include secondary school principals, assistant principals, and administrators. This individual will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies for the recruitment and retention of members. Reporting to the Director of Membership and working closely with the Growth Strategy and Engagement teams, the Membership Strategist will play a critical role in enhancing the value and experience of membership for school leaders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution
Collaboratively design and implement innovative recruitment and retention strategies for school leaders in partnership with the Director of Membership.
Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify target demographics and untapped markets for program expansion.
Utilize data analytics to gain insights into membership trends, preferences, and behaviors, driving continuous improvement in engagement strategies.
Develop and refine member value propositions to ensure alignment with evolving student needs and interests.
Program Development and Enhancement
Collaborate with the Engagement team to strengthen existing programming and develop new initiatives aimed at increasing school leader membership engagement and participation.
Regularly review and update membership offerings to ensure they remain relevant, engaging, and impactful for school leader members.
Partnerships and Collaboration
Forge strong relationships with the marketing department to craft and execute impactful recruitment campaigns, utilizing a mix of digital, print, and event-based marketing strategies.
Act as a liaison with state associations, providing expert advice and collaborative support to enhance state-level membership recruitment and engagement.
Develop and maintain partnerships with educational institutions, community organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to broaden the reach of student leadership programs.
Attend and actively participate in key industry events, conferences, and seminars to represent NASSP, network with potential partners, and promote student leadership programs.
Communication and Advocacy
Serve as a spokesperson for school leader members, effectively communicating the value and impact of the profession to various audiences, including superintendents, district leaders, and potential partners.
Advocate for the needs and interests of school leaders members within the organization, ensuring their voices are heard and reflected in program development.
Measurement and Reporting
Collaborate closely with the Technology team to establish robust systems for tracking and analyzing membership data, ensuring accurate measurement of growth and engagement metrics.
Develop regular reports and presentations for the Director of Membership and other key stakeholders, providing clear and actionable insights on program performance, member feedback, and market trends.
Lead cross-functional team meetings to review program progress, discuss challenges, and brainstorm solutions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Professional Development and Training
Keep abreast of the latest trends and best practices in membership recruitment and school leader development, participating in professional development opportunities as appropriate.
Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff and state association members to share knowledge and best practices in membership engagement and program promotion.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities
5+ years of professional or equivalent experience in membership recruitment and retention, preferably within an educational or association environment.
Bachelor's degree in business, or in a relevant field of study.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing membership recruitment campaigns.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on elevating diverse voices.
High level of emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to NASSP’s DEIA values and principles.
Ability to travel domestically, approximately 25%.
