Position Summary
The Senior Vice President (SVP), Association Management at Kellen holds a pivotal leadership role accountable for overseeing the strategic direction and operational excellence of multiple client associations. Reporting to the Group Vice President, this role entails driving client retention, financial growth, and fostering a culture of innovation and client satisfaction. As a seasoned professional in the industry, the SVP provides strategic guidance to client leadership, manages financial performance, and cultivates strong relationships within the association community.
Essential Functions
Leadership and Strategic Guidance
Formulates and executes strategic initiatives in alignment with organizational goals and client objectives.
Provides expert counsel to client leadership, working closely with boards of directors and committees to define strategic priorities.
Cultivates enduring relationships with executive committees, positioning Kellen as a trusted partner.
Establishes and monitors key performance indicators and metrics for each client, leveraging data to drive decision-making.
Client Management and Communication
Facilitates strategic communication with board leadership, proactively addressing concerns to maintain high client satisfaction.
Resolves issues promptly to prevent potential RFPs or termination of management agreements.
Offers thought leadership and industry insights, staying abreast of trends and regulations.
Identifies opportunities to expand services and drive revenue growth while ensuring client success.
Financial Management and Contract Negotiation
Develops fee structures tailored to client needs and company profitability requirements.
Monitors association finances, recommending solutions to address deficits and improve margins.
Leads contract renegotiations and intervenes with clients seeking additional services beyond existing agreements.
Team Leadership and Development
Oversees a team of Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents, providing guidance and mentorship.
Coaches team members on cost containment measures, adjusting strategies, and board recommendations.
Ensures optimal staff utilization, fostering employee satisfaction and client success.
Facilitates regular team meetings, succession planning, and career development initiatives.
Business Development and Brand Representation
Represents Kellen as a brand ambassador at industry events, conferences, and client engagements.
Identifies speaking opportunities to showcase thought leadership and industry expertise.
Generates leads for new business opportunities, collaborating with internal teams to convert prospects.
Corporate Culture and Employee Relations
Contributes to a positive corporate culture, addressing resistance to change and fostering a productive work environment.
Communicates company updates and translates leadership directives into actionable initiatives.
Demonstrates leadership through active participation in employee programming and events.
Other duties that align with the mission and vision of the company as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, Human Resources, Finance, or related field preferred; Advanced degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of successful experience in Association Management.
Demonstrated expertise in strategic and financial management, with proficiency in financial analysis.
Excellent communication skills, including conflict resolution and stakeholder management.
Strong project management and organizational abilities.
Ability to adapt to change and lead through transitions effectively.

Hybrid Work Environment: All employees located within commuting distance of one of Kellen’s offices are required to go in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Flexibility in going into the office additional days may be necessary.
Extended Work Hours: The nature of this role may require more than 40 hours per week to fulfill job responsibilities. Additionally, flexibility in working nights and weekends may be necessary. Longer hours, travel, and weekend commitments are typically associated with conferences or special events.
