Summary: This position is responsible for identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating recruitment and retention strategies for the Fellow, Associate Fellow, Resident, Medical Student, and Affiliate member categories to drive awareness of member value and improve the member experience. Collaborates on strategy and communications for dues processing across member categories. Sets Key Performance Indicators for campaigns, creates reporting dashboards to inform strategy, and uses data to evaluate campaign effectiveness and drive change. Develops and implements new member orientation and engagement communications to communicate benefits and promote engagement. Assists with communications and activities to support Initiates as they prepare for Fellowship. Responsible for tracking ACS committees, developing guidelines and training materials for committee staff liaisons, managing the nomination process for new committee members, and facilitating committee listings in the Clinical Congress program book. Provides member support by serving as the primary contact for member inquiries and managing the inbox.
This exempt position will report to the Associate Director in the Division of Member Services. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 2 days per week in the office/3 days per week remote, planning to move to 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote after Labor Day, 2022.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Member Recruitment and Retention – Identifies, develops, implements, and evaluates campaigns for recruitment and retention of Fellow, Associate Fellow, Resident, Medical Student, and Affiliate member categories, including campaign design, collaboration on content for digital communications and direct mail, and collaboration with other Divisions to identify leads and articulate member benefits and value. Use CRM/AMS (Aptify) to qualify prospects. Identifies, develops, and implements strategies to transition Associate Fellows to Fellows as well as retain retired and terminated members. Set Key Performance Indicators and collaborates with Integrated Communications to use analytics for forecasting, campaign adjustments, and reports. Creates regular reports on membership, lifecycle, and other metrics.
- Member Engagement – Coordinates member engagement, including the committee application process and the member engagement space and activities at Clinical Congress. The committee process includes coordinating the call for volunteers, planning staff liaison training, and maintaining committee management guidelines. Authors articles for ACS publications and newsletters as needed.
- Member Support – Serves as the primary contact and provides high-level customer support for ACS members through the general inbox and support phone line. Coordinates various communications related to members and responds to general member inquiries. (15%)
- Initiate/New Member Support – Manages activities in support of Initiates, including communication of key information, dates, and deadlines for Clinical Congress, overseeing new Fellow certificates, and coordinating new Fellow welcome kits. Works with peers in the Division on the Convocation Ceremony, including the program and reception. (10%)

Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required with a preference for a degree in marketing, business, communications, or journalism.
- 4+ years’ of experience working in a membership or related role is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and/or Association Management Software (AMS) experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.
- Capable of providing excellent customer service.
- Attention to detail, creativity, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Display high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.
- Experience in Associations, professional services, healthcare, and/or education desired.
Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, minimal reaching bending and stooping. Performs work in a normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer.
Other Necessary Requirements: Occasional evening duties may be required. Minimal travel for activities such as out of town meetings is required.
