DIRECT REPORT: Sr. Specialist, Research & Training Subcommittees
LOCATION: Remote in the United States / Hybrid option if you live in the state of Georgia
POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Director, Research and Training is charged with supporting academic rheumatology as it relates to rheumatology training, research, and division directors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the primary staff liaison for the Committee on Research, Committee on Training, and the Division Directors Committee. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide expertise and support on issues related to training, research, and division director leadership, including:
Work in collaboration with Vice President, Research, Training & Workforce to strategize and provide support on issues related to academic rheumatology, including committees and their subcommittees.
Staff committee meetings and calls.
Lead regular update calls with Committee Chairs.
Provide regular communications to committee members.
Organize and maintain existing projects.
Create and implement new project proposals.
Manage program content and implementation of committee educational activities including, but not limited to:
Division Directors Forum
Division Directors Conference
Educators Forum
Educators Conference
Basic and Clinical Research Conference
ACR-FDA Summit
Oversee program content and implementation of subcommittee educational activities including, but not limited to:
Rheumatology Research Workshop
Fellows Program at SOTA
Fellows Program at ACR Convergence
Program Coordinators Conference
FIT Scholarship Program
Online Education Programs
Create, submit, and provide interim and final reports for NIH grant to support Basic and Clinical Research Conference (NIH grant)
Develop and manage committee and subcommittee budgets including preparing variance and projection reports
Some overnight travel as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Research, Training, and Workforce
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA plus 8 years’ experience experience in association management required, preferably in a medical specialty society or MS/MA/MBA/JD with five (5) years’ experience in related field, or more than twelve (12) years’ experience with no degree
Demonstrated expertise and success in:
Project management with ability to balance multiple priorities
Budgeting and financial oversight
Conference Program development and implementation
Clear oral and written communication
Problem-solving and decision-making
Ability to work within a team structure
Consensus-building with both internal and external constituencies
Advanced knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft applications, databases, and internet communications
