Finance Responsibilities:

• Month-end, Quarter-end, and Year-end closing journal entries
• Preparation of financial statements to be used for leadership and board reporting
• Manage and project cash flow and working capital to anticipate short-term and long-term cash needs of the organization
• Review A/P and A/R functions, reviewing and approving A/P payments.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and prepare bank reconciliations
• Safeguard the assets of the association through accurate and timely reporting and risk mitigation
• Work with company leadership to create an annual budget for each department and overall projections for the organization
• Record intercompany transactions and update accounting for NPCA’s foundation
• Routinely reproject year-end revenue and expenses, as compared to initial projections to assist leadership in executing to plan
• Monitor and analyze budget to actual differences during the year, investigating discrepancies
• Ensure that internal controls and segregation of duties are documented and functioning appropriately to protect the assets of the organization from errors and theft/fraud
• Coordinate and oversee the annual independent audit of NPCA’s financial statements
• Assist outsourced HR professionals complete semi-monthly payroll, posting payroll entries, and submitting 401k payments
• Oversee efficiency, accuracy, and processes in all areas of responsibility for the Association, as they relate to finance and administration.
• Oversee the functionality, accuracy, and maintenance of the membership database.
• Establish and manage relationships with association vendors that impact finance and audit, and other administrative functions.

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
• Five to six years of progressive accounting experience, with a working knowledge of accounting functions is required.
• Experience working with non-profits and/or associations is preferred

• Experience engaging with committees and fostering member relationships.
• Willingness to Travel: Must be available for occasional overnight travel within the U.S. and Canada.
