The International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Director of Education & Certification. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Education & Certification is charged with developing, maintaining, and managing IMSA’s education and certification programs.
IMSA is based in Rockledge, FL. Preference will be given to local candidates but remote candidates will be considered.
The Director of Education & Certification duties and responsibilities include:
Education
Works with the Education Advisory Council (EAC) and staff to develop new education programs
Collaborate with volunteers, subject matter experts and committees on the development and maintenance of IMSA education
Oversees the maintenance and updating of existing education programs
Evaluate and recommend new and/or enhancements to educational offerings
Manages the educational program development process
Serves as primary staff contact to volunteer committees involved with education programs
Works closely with program developers, volunteers, staff and others on content creation
Oversees quality control on all new and revised education
Provides monthly updates on all education projects for committee and board meetings
Certification
Works with volunteer work groups and staff to develop new certification materials and exams
Collaborate with volunteers, subject matter experts and committees on the development and maintenance of IMSA certification materials and exams
Manages the creation and revision of all certification material and exams
Serves as primary staff contact to volunteer committees involved with certification material and exams
Works closely with program developers, volunteers, staff and others on content creation
Oversees quality control on all new and revised certification material and exams
Provides monthly updates on all certification-related activities for committee and board meetings
Conference/Committee Management
Responsible for all educational content at IMSA’s Forum & Expo
Oversees development and scheduling of technical program sessions
Actively participates in conference planning with staff and leads committees as needed
Manages certification exam prep courses to include scheduling and working with moderators
Serves as liaison to the Educational Advisory Council
Schedules all EAC meetings
Works with Chair on development of agenda
Assists with projects of the EAC
Prepares minutes of EAC meetings
Serves as liaison to volunteer work groups
Assists in special projects and assumes responsibility for the development, administration and promotion of specific projects as required
Staff, Budget Management, and Other
Supervises the certification team, currently a staff of 4
Provide guidance and support to staff
Identify staff growth and professional development opportunities
Create, manage and oversee development of education and certification budget
Works with finance staff and Executive Director on budget creation
Tracks and approved education and certification expenses
Assists with projects and other duties that arise
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management position in education and/or certification
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing training and education-related programs strategies for external customers
Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders including volunteers, board/committee members, staff and others
Organizational and project management skills
Strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills
