We are hiring a Controller to join our Finance team.
The objective of this position is to ensure that our (and our clients') financial strategy and accounting operations are sound, effective, prudent, accurate, secure, clearly communicated, and compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and standards (including GAAP and IFRS)—thereby ensuring the sustainable growth and advancement of the missions of Metacred and of our client organizations.
The Controller is responsible for, and exercises discretion and independent judgment related to, the management and general business operations of Metacred, including:
Design and development, continual improvement and evolution, maintenance, implementation, and oversight of financial and accounting systems, methods, policies, and procedures, in alignment with goals and objectives and in compliance with GAAP or IFRS (as applicable) and relevant laws and regulations.
Budgeting, program / product / service pricing and feasibility analysis, forecasting, financial statements and analysis, creating useful dashboards, presenting financial reports and strategic financial advice to boards and committees, and other internal and external reporting.

Design and operation of financial and accounting management systems (including Quickbooks Online and others) in a multi-entity environment, and coordination and oversight of accounting management system and payment processing vendors.
Timely, helpful, accurate, engaging, collegial, and highly professional communications and assistance related to financial transactions, budgeting and forecasting, policies, and records with—and responses to—Metacred staff, Metacred’s clients, and clients’ credentialing program customers, volunteer leaders, subcontractors and vendors, and other stakeholders.
Leadership, management, development, supervision, coaching, and oversight of finance and accounting staff.
Bank account, credit card account, investment account, and cash management and oversight.

Contributing ideas and working collaboratively with all Metacred staff, client volunteer leaders, partner organizations, and vendors.
Metacred’s staff culture is progressive—valuing innovation, collaboration, courage, professionalism, performance, client service, and accountability. As a team, we share a consistently positive attitude, sense of humor, and passion for excellence. We strive towards continual improvement and are confident in our ability to deliver exceptional results. We embrace change and thrive on challenges—viewing them as an invitation to evolve and succeed.
In addition to a robust package of traditional benefits, Metacred offers a fulfilling, Results-Only Work Environment (ROWE) that respects and empowers our human resources and is driven by our and our clients' business needs, rather than arbitrary factors outside of the context of business needs. The premise of a ROWE is that work can get done anywhere at any time the team member is most productive. This is intended to optimize personnel autonomy, efficiency, job satisfaction, worker health and safety, performance, and accountability.
The Controller reports to the Chief Operating Officer and supervises one or more staff in the Finance and Accounting Department. This is an Exempt position and subject to at-will employment.
Like all of our staff team, the successful candidate for this position will work remotely (telecommute) and will be based at Metacred’s Global Headquarters in McLean, Virginia, USA, with travel to Metacred's offices, client meetings and conferences, and other events around the world.
