In this exciting role, the VP, Event Management leads our internal event management team and is responsible for developing compelling and engaging conference content that aligns with our organization’s objectives and meets the needs and expectations of our target audience.
FCCS is looking for a leader who thrives at working across internal and external functional groups to establish objectives, strategies, deliverables and timelines, design conference educational programs and gain management buy-in to optimize outcomes, mitigate financial risk, and drive net profits for live events, sponsorships and exhibits.

In addition to an annual bonus opportunity and competitive benefits, the salary range for this position is $110,400-182,200 annually.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Conference Operations, Execution and Strategic Project Management
Develop and set company-wide standards and processes to ensure all meetings/events are efficient, effective, and accurately project the FCCS brand.
Identify, create, and implement a comprehensive strategic meetings management approach covering the scope of all FCCS event types, including event registrations, staff competency standards, speaker relations management, sponsorship and exhibits management.
Establish vendor and provider partner relationships. Negotiate contracts, reduce, eliminate, or mitigate legal liability by identifying the risks and managing the liability clauses within the vendor contracts.
Refine and implement event planning and delivery standards and processes to include incorporation of strategic development steps, articulated staff service standards, and measurement models (through pre and post event evaluations).
Manage, guide, and direct a team of meeting managers and other support staff who are responsible for managing the logistics implementation to include registration, audio-visual equipment, transportation, hotel accommodations, catering, signage, online document management, printing, speaker relations, evaluation and entertainment aspects of FCCS events.
Responsible for oversight of site feasibility assessment, evaluation and selection that comply with FCCS brand, customer requirements and established budget parameters.
Oversee management and dissemination of promotional materials, and responses to inquiries.
Manage Continuing Professional Education (CPE), content development, application and compliance strategies and processes for in-person and virtual events.
Financial and Risk Management
Manage, establish, and direct administration and implementation of all aspects of event financial operations.
Identify and plan for the safety and security risks that could affect the event, attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and the organization. Implement a risk management plan to address crisis situations.
Identify and mitigate financial revenue and expense risk that could impact FCCS’ revenue stream and operating profit.
Partner with internal management and Marketing to recommend and develop new revenue streams through sponsorship and exhibitor programs, and new conferences and events.
Program Development and Collaboration
Lead the development, curation, design, delivery and management of engaging, compelling, high quality, and financially viable conference educational programs that are reflective of industry needs.
Identify and secure talent from within client base to serve on conference steering committees and serve as a thought leader with steering committee members and workgroups to design the scope and format of events, providing guidance in the design of conference educational content.
Lead steering committee meetings; plan and develop programs, agendas, budgets, and services according to customer (internal & external) requirements.
Support the Marketing and Communications team to develop well-tailored marketing plans and communications that provide visibility and ensure the success of programs and events.
Research and Trends
Stay current on the best practices of emerging trends in in-person and virtual conference delivery.
Lead research on relevant content/topic areas for each event. Identify cutting-edge, trending and solutions-oriented speakers that align to conference themes and needs of clients.
Trends in key subject areas such as technology, innovation, ESG, DEI
Key political/legislative issues
Speaker Management and Engagement
Secure high-profile subject matter expert as program speakers from the client’s industry and business world and beyond who inform, inspire and support clients.
Conduct proactive outreach to guide and support speakers throughout the content development process.
Curate and present content and speakers to steering committees and internal management for consideration.
Craft program into storyline and attendee experience, develop event scripting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training plus 10+ years of Meeting/Conference Management/Event Planning experience with concentration in professional development.
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation preferred, but not required.
Minimum of 5 years program design and development experience required.
Minimum of 7 years’ managerial experience required.
Experience facilitating and managing volunteer program committees.
Strong strategic, planning, forecasting and budgeting skills.
Complete competence in: Site research and contract negotiations, food and beverage, audio- visual equipment, exhibit hall, etc.
Knowledge of hotel management, operations, and facilities.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communications skills as well as negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Strong organization, time, and project management skills.
Experience in interacting with executive and senior-level management, Board of Directors, and external customers.
Strict attention to detail; work well under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
A passion to work collaboratively in a team environment preferred.
Demonstrated business, people and departmental leadership experience preferred.
Demonstrated new business development skills.
Ability to operate office equipment proficiently.
Overnight travel as required (approximately 25-30%).
