The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) is the trade association representing medical products distributors. HIDA members deliver essential medical products such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the nation’s hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories, home care, and physician practices.
Established in 1902, HIDA is a leading voice on matters important to the healthcare distribution industry as well as the healthcare supply chain as a whole. HIDA offices are located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia and operates on a 3 days in-office, 2 days remote schedule.
HIDA is seeking a Director of Membership to lead its engagement with corporate members for its Acute, Physician and Lab member portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for managing its member Councils, the primary source for peer-to-peer networking among our members’ executives. The Councils are also the primary channel for member feedback to continually build the relevance of all HIDA member services. This position supports our membership retention strategy which includes member participation at conferences and the organization of member-to-member structured networking components at our events. This position works in concert with the recruitment team to grow total membership.
This position would be a great fit for a highly professional, intellectually curious communicator with the ability to connect and build relationships with executives at Fortune 500 companies as well as privately held local and regional businesses. A background and interest in business, supply chain and healthcare is preferred but not required. This position provides an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and knowledge building membership within trade associations, to have a direct impact on HIDA’s growth. This position reports to the Senior Director of Membership and regularly interacts with the Executive Team, education, events, marketing and communications.
Essential Responsibilities: • Serve as primary point of contact for member participation in signature events; • For the Streamlining Healthcare Conference, lead the Executive Business Exchange and the Reverse Expo, top-rated events within the conference; • Lead council activities for core market segments. Facilitate council members with peer-to-peer engagement on topics of interest; • Implement corporate membership strategies, plans and tactics to promote the value of HIDA membership for members; • Provide customer feedback from members, representing the voice of the customer to improve services relevance and value; • In collaboration with marketing team, develop all market-specific outreach and collateral material to effectively communicate the value of HIDA membership; • Implement event attendance strategies to promote participation in networking events; • Identify ways to increase member value at events; • Develop knowledge of member needs and integrate them through innovative strategies to meet the established retention goals; • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree preferred and a minimum 6 years of relevant experience. Experience and understanding of the healthcare environment is a plus; • Proven skill/success building relationship with corporate executives; • Successful sales and/or account management track record; • Outstanding communication (oral and written) influencing and relationship building skills; • Exceptional time management skills and commitment to meeting deadlines; • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; • Exceptional written, interpersonal and communication skills with commitment to a high level of customer service; • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with short deadlines, demonstrating a flexible approach; • Some travel is required.
