Executive Director
We are looking for an individual with previous association management experience, in the capacity of Executive Director, for one of our clients. This ideal candidate should have experience with leadership in national associations in the capacity of volunteer and board management, membership, board governance, communications/PR, 501(c)3 and (c)6 administration, standards creation, and program development. You will be responsible for leading the board and volunteers to fulfill their strategic plan, identifying new opportunities for growth and value to members, and recommending and carrying out board goals and objectives. You should have the ability to identify, develop, and nurture innovative programs which will be accomplished through your leadership, management, and execution, while focusing on association growth. You should be someone who enjoys coordination, and building programs in order to see success.
This individual should have interest in organizational growth. You should be focused on shifting the culture from volunteer led to one that is proactive and develops new opportunities for audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the association; provide guidance and organization to the board, volunteers, committees, and other key stakeholders; liaise with, and participate in, board of director and committee meetings.
Spearhead all activity to move forward strategic objectives identified to assist in growth and engagement with the association.
Develop, create, and implement programs and processes that grow the association including brand recognition.
Develop relationships with sponsors and organizational partners. Create and promote sponsorship and advertising opportunities, develop opportunities, and nurture relationships in order to secure sponsorships/ads to increase revenue.
Oversee vendors and independent contractors as needed. Review and approve contracts for services; draft RFPs when necessary.
Oversee the review of membership benefits and develop offerings and marketing materials in order to grow membership.
Make recommendations for marketing initiatives and PR efforts; implement and lead efforts as needed.
Serve as direct liaison with association volunteers or staff members for leadership inquiries, bylaws, policy and procedures, management, legal compliance, risk management, insurance needs, nominations and more.
Learn and understand changing industry trends and make recommendations for association growth and outreach.
Work with volunteer groups to produce tools and content, develop relationships, and assist in reviewing volunteer structure and additional opportunities to expand membership.
Required Skills:

Should have proven track record in implementing tactics, building programs, and launching initiatives to meet goals and objectives according to timelines and leading volunteer boards.
Strong organizational abilities, including planning, development, follow-up, and task facilitation.
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, including the ability to tailor your style to suit different audiences.
Fiscal and budget management skills. Experience with a financial organization/association – a plus.
Strong understanding of technology.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Desire to learn the association’s industry, key stakeholders, and how to serve the industry community.
Ability to monitor, evaluate, and modify programs and policies to meet changing needs and objectives of the organization.
Ability to make data driven decisions for the betterment of the organization.
Qualifications:
10+ years of executive management experience with a minimum of 5 years in association management and a successful track record in leading growth.
Proven leadership skills; demonstrable experience in conceptualizing, developing, implementing and evaluating new programs.
Strong experience in working with boards, and volunteer recruitment and engagement.
Experience having served as a previous Executive Director.
Must be able to travel a minimum of 3-5 times per year (to conferences and Board/Strategic Meetings)
