Job Summary:
Reporting to the Managing Director, Knowledge Communities & Resources and responsible for the program management of multiple AIA Knowledge Communities (KC), special interest groups within the AIA. The Sr. Manager is responsible for volunteer and resource management, strategic and programmatic planning, and budget management for a portfolio of 3 - 5 Knowledge Communities. Daily activities include enforcing AIA policies and guidelines, acting as liaison for KC Volunteer Leadership, and keeping up to date with KC activities for staff resource and budget allocation. This position is also responsible for coordination of collaboration opportunities with AIA chapters, allied organizations, and other KCs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as primary point of contact for KC volunteer leadership regarding AIA policies and governance issues.
Assists volunteer leadership to develop program content ideas for Knowledge Community activities.
Manages budget communication with volunteer leadership; and provides oversight for project implementation within budget.
Develops, monitors, and reports on all projects from a programmatic and budget perspective within the Knowledge Communities.
Coordinates knowledge capture and delivery of all programs working with various internal staff.
Develops and maintains highly effective relationships with volunteer and staff leaders affiliated with their Knowledge Community programs and activities.
Monitors developments within the architecture and non-profit management professions to develop and recommend effective new programs, products and services in support of the AIA’s overall strategic initiatives.
Monitors relationships with outside organizations allied to Knowledge Community areas of specialty, and develops opportunities to enhance strategic partnerships, research, communications, and collaborative programs.
Identifies and facilitates opportunities for cooperation, and optimal cross-function within the Institute, such as collaboration among Knowledge Communities, with local/state components and other Institute program areas and special initiatives.
Develops outreach efforts for programs to serve diversity efforts, and to reach targeted areas of membership, such as emerging professionals, educators, and students.
Leads program evaluation efforts with project teams, and volunteer leaders, and facilitates efforts to improve program delivery.
Identifies opportunities for sponsorship, and manages contacts with sponsors, in collaboration with Strategic Partnership department.
Perform other related duties as assigned and as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Architecture or related fields
Minimum Years of Experience: 5 - 7 years of project management experience

Work Environment: Must have a home office set up as this position is largely virtual/remote. Home internet service with speeds in excess of 3Mb in both directions (upload and download) through a broadband internet service is required. Skill in collaborative problem solving, conflict resolution, and systems/process development.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office, including competence in Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to coordinate a diverse shared resource pool.

This position will periodically be required to be on-site at the AIA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
