The American Academy of Ophthalmology Is looking for Director, Congressional Affairs
You will direct the advancement of the Academy’s federal legislative priorities by developing and implementing strategies through direct federal lobbying; fundraising for the Academy’s political action committee , grassroots engagement, member relations, communications and coalitions. Leverages congressional relationships to advance the Academy’s regulatory priorities with federal agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Provides strategic leadership and oversight of advocacy and government relations activities; Responsible for the formulation and execution of federal advocacy agenda to advance the legislative and regulatory priorities of the Academy and the practice of ophthalmology. Takes initiative to develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of Congress (and their staffs), other key stakeholders in Congress and in the Executive Branch/federal agencies to communicate policy positions, build champions and advance Academy priorities.
