Overview:
The Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER) is a professional membership organization dedicated exclusively to professionals who provide services to persons with vision loss. Our aim is to promote and support the professions by advocating for evidence-based practices, high quality standards, value-added resources and giving voice to issues of critical importance.
Objective/Purpose:
Support AER’s ongoing program of continuing education and other professional development opportunities to AER members and the community, to include in-person and virtual conferences and webinars. Provide support in the planning and execution of conference programs (virtual and onsite). An especially critical role for this position is to manage the continuing education (CE) credit offerings for the association including accreditation requirements, prospecting, pre- and post-virtual conference planning, marketing, on-site support, post-conference documentation and customer service.
Principal Roles and Responsibilities:
With minimal supervision, manage all continuing education activities that are interactive, engaging, and aligned to the needs of the Association. Facilitates all webinars and eLearning events for AER, AER chapters, and AER Divisions.
Manage work plan, production schedule, and QA plan to ensure consistency for all current and future online activities.
Ensure compliance with bodies accreditation requirements and standards. Obtain continuing education (CE) credit approval for eligible online activities.
Assists with the planning and implementation of the AER Biennial Conference. Primary focus on speakers/presentations, as well as assisting with conference marketing, mobile app creation, and attendee registration. Coordinates all CEs for the conference.
Communicate with external vendors of software programs and other vendors who utilize the AER eLearning Center platform for continuing education.
Work closely with the Associate Executive Director to routinely evaluate the effectiveness and content accuracy of online activities, and recommend enhancements, design improvements, and LMS interface changes.
Audio and video editing.
Manages marketing efforts for all online activities.
Maintain standard operating procedures for the creation and implementation of all online education resources.
Serves as the primary staff for AER’s Divisions (special working groups). This includes providing services such as eblasts, meeting coordination, preparing agendas, meeting minutes, election management, management of webinars and in-person conferences, and products/deliverables.
Serves as the primary staff for all social media marketing efforts.
Staff liaison to various committees, chapters and working groups (Accessibility, The New RE:view Journal, Publications, etc.)
Report progress of continuing education activities to the AER Board regularly.
Prepares monthly reports.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or vocational degree in a relevant discipline.
At least 5 years’ experience with e-learning platforms and learning management systems.
Results-oriented, self-starter, deadline-conscious, intellectually curious and willingness to learn.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
5 years’ experience in an association or similar environment.
Experience with virtual events platforms and other e-learning technologies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Includes competencies that may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
Technical problem identification, analysis, and resolution skills.
Ability to support and develop engaging eLearning content that integrates multimedia.
Basic knowledge of video and audio editing.
Ability to test e-Learning deliverables and functionality.
Ability to set priorities and make recommendations about system improvements.
Strong project management skills including ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective listening, oral and written communication skills; particularly with regard to accuracy, copy editing, etc.
Ability to collaborate with others to achieve shared goals.
Ability to work independently.
Adapt quickly to a constantly changing environment.
NOTES:
AER maintains a virtual office, and telecommuting is expected. Candidate must work well independently and exhibit strong initiative and leadership skills.
