The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is the nation’s largest and most influential military association with a robust membership of current, former, and retired military officers and their families. MOAA is dedicated to preserving the earned benefits of all members of the uniformed services and their families and survivors, and to maintaining a strong national defense. Responsible for providing support to the Senior Director (Council and Chapter Affairs) in order to achieve chapter recruitment and retention goals for a healthy and vibrant affiliate system which realizes effective grassroots advocacy, impactful community service, and camaraderie with a purpose. Assists in council/chapter management and training and communications with the board of directors. Provides input to the Senior Director on recommendations for strategic planning and departmental goals. Fosters cooperation and communication between national headquarters and affiliated chapters and councils with a view towards achieving mutually supporting goals. Provides advice and assistance to the leadership of affiliated chapters and councils, as well as the general membership who support MOAA’s mission and its accomplishments. Develops content for print and digital communications and publications to support membership growth and leadership development within the chapter and council system. May act as Senior Director in the latter’s absence.

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provides necessary assistance to council and chapter leaders.
• Sits on various committees and maintains detailed knowledge of MOAA, including organizational structure, mission, goals, and values. Participates in and leads working groups for new initiatives.
• Makes frequent trips – up to 25 percent of the work week -- throughout the country visiting chapters and councils and speaking to members on Association policies, programs, legislative initiatives, and chapter management.
• Assists in the planning and execution of the annual Council Presidents’ Seminar and quarterly, regional Chapter Leadership Workshops. Coordinates, develops, and publishes all presentation materials.
• Develop and edit content for relevant print and digital communication platforms.
• Responsible for maintaining up to date departmental publications, such as the Council and Chapter Policies and Procedures Guide and information on the MOAA web site which are designed to assist council and chapter officers in conducting their MOAA affiliate activities.
• Develops and executes the department’s annual budget of up to $1 million. Processes all invoices, approves expenditures, and conducts periodic reconciliations.
