If you’re a strategic thinker with a proven track record of executing against big ideas, this is the role for you. We are seeking a candidate who can put their drive toward developing, implementing, and overseeing multichannel (print, digital, and social) marketing strategies/plans and help improve and coordinate existing programs. ACEC recently adopted a strategic plan that aims to position the Council as the thought leader driving the delivery of valued engineering and other professional services for a better world. The right candidate will be able to convert this vision into an opportunity to grow ACEC’s brand through an integrated multi-channel marketing program. ACEC is also undergoing a sustained effort to increase its non-dues revenue. Competitive candidates should be able to prove their ability to recognize opportunities and act quickly to market the Council’s existing educational programs and member-services products to help support growth efforts. The Director of Marketing will report directly to the Vice President of Communications and Marketing. This pivotal role will work with the senior team and other staff to create, write, implement, and monitor marketing programs that support our efforts. Duties:
Content and Collateral Development - Oversee advertising/promotion, marketing collateral, and social media messaging, including print, online, email, and digital.
- Write, revise, edit marketing copy and content with ACEC staff and outside vendors as needed.
- Assist communications staff (Content Director) to develop editorial calendars for content management; develop a centralized “social media dashboard” to monitor conversation, trends, and conduct social listening. Identify new social media channel opportunities as they develop.
- Identify, procure, and manage vendors – creative (copy and design), print, production and related services – for ACEC products, programs, publications, and member services, including but not limited to brochures, e-mail, landing pages, and print collateral.
Brand Management - Oversee ACEC brand and identity.
- Working in conjunction with communication/strategic staff, establish/ maintain/enforce a consistent corporate image throughout all marketing, messaging, product lines, promotional materials, and events through the development of ACEC corporate and social media style guides.
- Maintain high-level of professional quality in both content and design.
Website and User Experience - Working in conjunction with ACEC communications staff, oversee ACEC website and online presence, including main website and microsites, in terms of best practices in content and design.
- Identify ACEC-relevant keyword and phrases to ensure maximal search engine optimization (SEO) for acec.org.
- Manage the visitor and purchaser experience on acec.org, including possible new feature such as chat capabilities and streamlining shopping cart processes.
Digital and Social Media - Manage earned and paid advertising opportunities including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter campaigns, retargeting advertising and monetization campaigns through Feathr.
- Determine strategy for interacting with fans/friends/followers on social media; identify staff roles for ongoing activity.
Monitoring Process and Metrics - Work closely with ACEC staff to set and ensure all print/digital promotion and production timelines and budgets, from inception through completion, are met
- Test marketing concepts and review results to gain marketing intelligence and purchaser insight to improve ACEC promotional efforts.
- Track and report key performance metrics for marketing and advertising campaigns to adjust strategies as needed.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree and relevant marketing experience.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Willing to try new ideas and concepts.
- Strong copywriting and editing skills; someone who appreciates that words matter and uses precision to express ideas in both written and oral format.
- Basic graphic design and layout skills using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with managing digital marketing platforms: social media marketing and content marketing.
- Competency in enterprise-level email management applications, automation platforms, and AMS applications such as NetForum.
- Ability to travel – at least twice per year to the Annual Fall Conference and the Spring Legislative Conference and Summit in Washington, DC.
