Our Mission
The National Council of Teachers of English is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education. This mission statement was adopted in 1990: “The Council promotes the development of literacy, the use of language to construct personal and public worlds and to achieve full participation in society, through the learning and teaching of English and the related arts and sciences of language.”
The Opportunity
The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) is seeking a Program Coordinator to join our Awards, Philanthropy, and Programs team. The ideal candidate is energized by organizing, masters details, and thrives in a dynamic environment. Our Program Coordinator should love creating and maintaining strong systems that enable others to be at their best, and should thrive on building a positive customer service reputation for awardees and applicants. This position will coordinate and provide a broad range of administrative and operational support for various NCTE awards and programs, including managing pre- and post-award support with excellent customer service, attention to detail, and efficiency.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Award Application Administration
Prepare, publish, and manage communications to applicants to support them through the various award timelines and phases.
Review applications for completeness; work with applicants to fill in any missing content.
Manage logistics for judging committees; facilitate the adjudication process from inception to completion.
Post-Award Administration
Serve as the main point of contact at NCTE for the assigned programs, responding to member needs and queries and directing questions appropriately.
Ensure timely and accurate correspondence with and processing of funding and other items provided to award recipients.
Provide administrative support for listed programs, including working closely with staff and program volunteers on day-to-day processes. Administer committees and webpages related to these programs.
General Administrative Support
Document, improve upon, and manage existing processes, ensuring the utmost efficiency.
Maintain accurate records in membership database.
Provide other general administrative support as needed.
Provide staff support at NCTE Annual Convention, held each November.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program and Partnership Coordinator and Director of Affiliated Groups.
