Summary of Position:
The Manager, State Councils will assist in recruiting and retaining NAMA members, oversee special interest groups, and direct management of affiliated state councils through volunteers. This role will produce programs that assist state councils in all activities including administration, education and membership.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support state councils and NAMA members in ways that are innovative, dynamic, creative and measurable in impact.
Build and maintain relationships with State Council Board of Directors.
Responsible for invoicing and dues payment process and distribute state council information and mailings.
Provide guidance and assistance to state council board members including support for membership recruitment and retention, event planning, board governance and elections, partnership development and training.
Create and maintain NAMA database and state council records including membership, Board of Directors activities, and bylaws.
Plan and attend annual state council meetings for the assigned region, to include meeting logistics, processing registrations, preparing agendas, developing meeting materials and reports.
Establish and build relationships with NAMA membership and perspective members in assigned region to acquire and secure new members, grow revenue, and retain current membership.
Understand and promote member benefits and NAMA programs to members and broader convenience industry.
Personify the mission and goals of NAMA through interactions at the NAMA Show and state council events.
Serve as support for NAMA’s special interest groups including Emerging Leaders Network and Women in the Industry.
Collaborate with the Director, Membership in creating, monitoring and managing the Association Services budget.
Assist the Membership Team with projects and activities.
An average of 35% travel in this position is required.
Areas of Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required.
3-5 years of experience in component (chapters, state councils, etc.) relations and services and volunteer management is preferred.
Experience working for a trade organization or association management company is highly preferred.
Experience at preparing and managing budgets, financial plans and monthly review of financial statements, and other non-dollar benchmarking related to state councils.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience working in QuickBooks, iMIS, preferred.
