POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Director, Education is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Certification program; the ACR’s digital educational activities; and the ACR’s non-annual meeting live activities. This includes business development to address learner needs, identify new revenue sources and contribute to the College’s strategic plan. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Oversees the Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Certification Program. Relevant duties include:
- Provide staff support to the oversight committee, appeals committee and development groups
- Develop and implement policies, and procedures to ensure the program is psychometrically sound, legally defensible and supports the critical areas of certification e.g., governance, program administration and management, test development and administration, eligibility, recertification, appeals, discipline, rights of candidates, record control, consultant/vendor management
- In consultation with legal counsel assure program processes and procedures are legally defensible and minimize the College’s risks of legal liability
- Develop, implement and monitor a marketing plan(s) to support the identified positioning and branding and promote certification program(s), product(s) and service(s)
- Oversees all ACR’s digital educational activities e.g., ACR Beyond, image library, LMS, CARE. Relevant duties include:
- Directing priorities for the ACR’s digital educational activities
- Business development including preparation of business plans designed to identify educational content, strategic partnerships, generate revenue, increase learner participation and satisfaction and result in improved patient outcomes
- Identify opportunities for strategic, alliance, reselling, referral, and technology partnerships, build relationships, and actively track performance to a learner satisfaction and revenue-oriented metrics framework
- Management of all new online educational activities including vendor selection and related contracts
- In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications department, design marketing plans to support business strategy
- Serves as business owner for ACR’s digital education activities and report as required to the Technology Steering Committee
- Oversees the ACR’s non-annual meeting live activities e.g., Rheumatology Maintenance of Certification sessions, Winter Rheumatology Symposium; State-of-the-Art Clinical Symposium; Pediatric State-of-the-Art Symposium; and the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Courses. Relevant duties include:
- Oversees speaker and content selection, learner satisfaction, activity outcomes and delivery format to ensure balance educational portfolio that supports business goals
- Oversee management of logistics including site selection
- Establish and implement mechanisms to monitor activities and progress/outcomes
- Oversee submission of ABIM MOC applications and correspondence
- Evaluates and recommends pricing models to support business strategy
- Oversee creation of project proposals based on committee recommendations
- Ensure all CME activities are consistent with the expressed needs of the target audience (s) as prescribed in the mission statement and identified by needs assessment sources
- Accountable for ensuring final CME activity reports are completed within 90 days post activity
- Oversee budget – approx. 2 million.
- Create annual reports with analysis of accomplishments and outreach; initiate recommendations for focus and direction
- Some overnight travel as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities
- Any additional responsibilities as the Vice President, Education or the ACR Executive Vice President may assign
QUALIFICATIONS: - Graduate degree in related field or Bachelor’s and equivalent experience
- Experience in medical association and/or education program management
- Experience with Learning Management Software platforms and authoring tools
- Expert knowledge regarding certification industry standards e.g., Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs National Commission for Certifying Agencies
- Expert knowledge of industry standards related to educational activities e.g., American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification Program; American Board Medical Specialties (ABMS) Maintenance of Certification and Maintenance of Licensure Programs; Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s (ACCME) Essential Areas and Elements (including the Standards for Commercial Support) and Accreditation Policies; and the AMA guidelines regarding Continuing Medical Education (CME)
- Knowledge of certification legal implications and risk management strategies
- Knowledge of passing score methodologies, test performance monitoring techniques and the strengths and limitations of each
- Strong leadership, governance, financial management, marketing, communications, and organizational management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including speakers, volunteers, staff, and vendors
- Strong consensus building and negotiating skills
- Detailed-oriented self-starter with the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously and exercise judgment in handling responsibilities
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft applications, databases, and Internet communications
