Description
The purpose of this position is to implement award, mentoring and research education programs, projects and events undertaken by the Academic Affairs and Research Education (AARE) unit. This position serves to meet the objectives of the Association's strategic initiatives pertaining to the educational preparation of audiologists, speech language pathologists, and speech-language and hearing scientists; the ongoing career support of faculty–researchers; and efforts to promote the association's education initiatives and resources.
Responsibilities
Manage the operational planning and implementation of programs, projects, and events including timelines, application and review processes, communications, events, program evaluations, reports, and resource development.
Propose and implement the preparation and organization of program/project documentation using established platforms and intranet work sites.
Develop and update communications disseminated via the web, articles, newsletters, email broadcasts, ASHA Community discussion groups, and social media.
Propose and implement program and process improvements and standard operating procedures and advise about best practices to enhance the unit's work.
Provide technical assistance to members of the academic and research communities and national office staff regarding programs, activities and resources implemented by the unit. Track inquiries and evaluate sufficiency of existing informational resources based upon inquiry trends and advise about needed resources.
Assist with information gathering and develop and maintain databases to organize information in support of the work of the program.
Serve on national office teams to implement initiatives pertinent to the unit as part of the association's strategic plan.
Stay informed about current trends and resources pertaining to academic, clinical and research education, graduate/undergraduate education, funding opportunities, and faculty–researcher careers in communication sciences and disorders in order to respond to general inquiries and appropriately refer to available resources.
Assist with budget management for the unit.
Qualifications
Knowledge Typically Acquired Through
BA/BS degree
3–5 years' experience in program management working in a professional setting
Experience communicating with higher education faculty–researchers, members of professional associations, and/or students preferred
Scope and Depth of Technical Skills/Knowledge
Demonstrated program management abilities and knowledge of project management principles
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; independently compose correspondence and procedural documents
Demonstrated proficiency using technology to organize and execute work (e.g., Office 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, databases, award/mentoring platforms, online meetings, document collaboration)
Scope and Depth of Non-Technical Skills/Knowledge
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple and varied projects and tasks
Ability to manage time effectively to complete multiple projects with tight deadlines
Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately with attention to detail
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to assist others
Willingness to learn and apply information about higher education and faculty–researcher careers in communication sciences and disorders

Additional Salary Information: Salary Range (Non-Negotiable): $68,579 – $76,198
