How will clients benefit with you as their coach?
Depending upon their goals, my clients will experience:

  • Increased self-confidence and leadership capacity,

  • More effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships,

  • Greater clarity about personal and professional goals,

  • Enhanced job performance and cultural competency.

What are 5 strengths you have as a coach?
  • My authenticity, integrity, sense of humor, emotional intelligence, cross-cultural awareness, and straight-forward yet compassionate and supportive approach, allows me to connect with many different kinds of people.

  • My ability to actively listen to my clients to help them unearth what they’re passionate about and then linking that vision to the future they want to create for themselves.

  • My training in both coaching and counseling enables me to tap into an eclectic menu of methodologies, strategies, and tools, customized to the particular needs, interests, and identities of each client.

  • My two decades of experience working in the nonprofit sector, including twelve years in senior leadership positions.

  • My commitment to equity and social justice and to building more diverse and inclusion organizations.

What is your coaching philosophy?
  • Coaching is transformational rather than just transactional. I focus on helping clients to take action and create a powerful new future – to thrive rather than just “getting by.”

  • Coaching is about helping a client to gain self-awareness and to explore new ways of being. Coaching is not about fixing someone’s problems, but about helping them to increase their effectiveness and achieving their goals. Ultimately coaching is about supporting the client to move beyond the status quo by helping them develop and work towards an action plan to achieve their desired results.

  • Coaching is insight-oriented and brings to the clients’ consciousness their strengths, challenges, resistance, fears, blind spots, triggers, automatic responses, and other barriers to success. I encourage my clients to be self-aware and intentional in their decision-making, rather than relying on automatic responses or habitual patterns of behavior.

  • Coaching assumes that the client is creative, resourceful, and whole. I support clients in honoring and celebrating themselves and their achievements. Therefore, I seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client by tapping into their strengths, values, and desires. I believe that clients are the “experts” in their own lives, not the coach. My assumption is that in helping clients to come up with their own solutions, there will be greater buy-in and motivation for them to act.

  • My work with a client focuses on where the client is now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be in the future. It involves active listening to help the client unearth what they passionately care about and to support them in seeing how that links to the future they want to create for themselves.

  • The coach-client relationship is a co-created partnership based upon trust, active listening, and creative inquiry. I engage clients in deep dialogue rather than being directive by telling them how they should think, feel, and act. I offer a safe, confidential space for clients to explore new possibilities and ways of being.

What types of people do you typically coach?
  • All levels of nonprofit professionals - emerging, mid-level, and senior-level leaders.

  • Members of communities that are under-represented in senior management positions.

  • Individuals committed to building diverse and inclusive organizations.
